Privacy Policy
Effective date: 12 October 2026
Split Log helps you share expenses with other people. To do that, the app stores your groups and expenses on a server so that every member of a group sees the same data. The app processes only the data it needs to work and has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Your account
Split Log uses the same account as Wallet Log. You can sign in with Apple or with your email address. We store:
- Your email address. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only receive Apple’s private relay address.
- An account identifier (for Sign in with Apple, the identifier provided by Apple).
- The display name you enter in Split Log.
Subscriptions
Split Log offers a Premium subscription. Purchases and payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details, such as your card or billing address; Apple processes them under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
To make Premium work on your account, we store with it:
- the Apple transaction identifier,
- the product you bought (monthly or yearly) and the app you bought it in,
- the environment (production or test),
- the expiration date,
- the refund or revocation date, if there is one,
- the time Apple signed this information.
This information comes from the transaction data signed by Apple, which the app sends after a purchase, after restoring purchases and when it starts, and from Apple’s App Store Server Notifications (renewals, expirations and refunds).
We use it only so that Premium works on your account in both Split Log and Wallet Log (they share one account), and to unlock moving your shares of Split Log expenses to Wallet Log. We do not use it for advertising or tracking and do not share it with anyone other than our hosting provider listed below.
Groups and expenses
The following data is stored for each group and is visible to all members of that group:
- Group name, currency and members. Members can also be people added by name only by another member; for them, only that name is stored, with no account.
- Expenses: title, category, amount, currency, date, who paid and how the expense is split.
- Payments between members, recurring expenses and invite codes.
- The history of changes in the group (for example, “Anna changed Netflix”).
Keep this in mind when you name a group or describe an expense: everyone in the group can see it.
Exchange rates
Exchange rates are public European Central Bank rates downloaded from our server. They do not contain any personal data.
Notifications
Reminders about recurring expenses are scheduled locally on your device. No data is sent to any server to do this.
Error reports
When something goes wrong unexpectedly, the app sends a short error report to our database so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains only:
- the part of the app where the error happened (for example, “repository”),
- the error type and code (for example, “URLError -1011” or a database error code),
- the app version, the iOS version and the device model (for example, “iPhone17,1”).
Reports do not contain your account identifier, email address, name, or any group or expense data, and they are not linked to your account. Expected situations, such as having no internet connection, are not reported. The same error is sent at most once every 5 minutes, and at most 20 reports per app launch. We use reports only to detect and fix errors, not for advertising or tracking, and keep them as long as they are needed for that.
Service providers
- Supabase hosts the database (including error reports) and the sign-in service. Data is stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, distributes the app and handles payments and subscriptions (App Store).
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone else. The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
Deleting your data
- Split Log → Settings → Delete Account deletes your Split Log data: your display name and the link between your account and your group memberships. In groups you share with other people, your name stays as a guest without an account, so the other members’ balances remain correct. A group that no longer has any member with an account is deleted and can no longer be accessed by anyone. Your shared account and your Wallet Log data are not affected.
- To delete the whole account (including Wallet Log), use Delete Account in Wallet Log. Your Split Log memberships then become guests in the same way.
Subscription information is kept as long as your account exists, also after a subscription is cancelled or expires (the expiration is part of that information). Delete Account in Split Log does not remove it, because it belongs to the shared account; deleting the whole account in Wallet Log removes it.
You can also contact us to access, correct or delete your data.
Children
The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children in this age group.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The current version is always available on this page.
